FAQ

WHY IS THE CAMP ONLY OFFERED TO RISING 11TH AND 12TH GRADERS?

Although dancers of all ages can benefit from the topics covered in the full Dancers in Balance Program, the Summer Experience is geared towards preparing pre-professional dancers for the next steps in their careers.

DO YOU OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL AID?

Sorry, not at this time, but we hope to be able to offer them soon.

DO CAMPERS HAVE TO STAY ON SITE OR CAN THEY PROVIDE THEIR OWN HOUSING?

Due to the nature of the program, we ask that all dancers stay in the provided housing for the full week of the DB Summer Experience.

WHAT GENRE DANCER ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

All of them! It doesn't matter if you are a ballerina, competitive contemporary dancer, or planning to attend college for musical theater. All that matters is that you have a plan to pursue dance after high school and you can check the boxes in the application process. The DB Summer Experience will benefit every dancer.

WHY SHOULD I MAKE TIME FOR THIS CAMP WHEN MY DANCER SHOULD BE SPENDING THE SUMMER WORKING ON TECHNIQUE?

The Dancers in Balance Program goes deeper than physical dance skills. The program was designed to give dancers the confidence and mental well-being to be successful, in addition to their dance technique. There are thousands of opportunities to develop technical skills over the course of your dance career, but only one camp like the DB Summer Experience. You don't want to miss it!

WHEN WILL I FIND OUT IF I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED?

Considering the intimate nature of the Summer Experience, each application will be carefully considered AFTER the application deadline. All applicants will be notified via email within 10 days of the application deadline if they have been accepted or not. Early submission does not mean early notification.

SO, IS THIS A DANCE CAMP OR NOT?

Yes and no. This camp has been developed exclusively for serious dancers, but it is unlike any dance camp you've ever experienced before. Dancers will spend most of their days involved in thought provoking activities, soul searching, and honing life skills, as well as engaging in deep stretching and yoga, improvisation and self choreography.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS

To be considered for acceptance into the Dancers In Balance Summer Experience, dancers must dance at least 10 hours per week, provide 2 letters of recommendation, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and submit a 1-3 minute audition video in the style of their choice as well as an essay.
